I don’t know how to begin. My heart is incredibly burdened. For the world, for my friends, for my campus.
You see, when people don’t understand their identities in light of who God is, the world shatters. So this is what I want to share with all of you.
You are worth so much more than you think. You were created in the image of God. You were made to be perfect and stand holy before Him. God wants you to know that and God wants you to know Him.
I don’t want this to come across judgmentally. I just want you to know how much you’re loved.
You may defy Him. You may hate Him. You may resist His every attempt at getting to know you. But you are loved by the God of the universe. To live as if you are loved by the God of the universe is a powerful thing.
There is so much more to life, so much joy available if you can see past present circumstances. Your life might suck. Honestly. You can be at your lowest low. Because Satan likes to watch the world burn. But God still reigns sovereign and He always wins. Jesus came to save you. Please understand that. Jesus came to save you.
If you could only grasp that kind of love. If you could only live as if you truly believed Jesus came to save YOU.
You wouldn’t need the safety of a bottle to drown out your circumstances because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need the approval of your peers because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need to hate your body so much because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need the temporary satisfaction that comes with hooking up because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need the security you feel in relationships because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need to obsessively work for grad school because Jesus is so much better than that. You wouldn’t need to bottle up all your emotions to appear put together on the outside because Jesus knows your inside and He loves you anyway and cares for you and is so much better than that.
I could keep going. Society tells us so many things are good, and maybe sometimes they are good, but Jesus is better. Sure, graduate school is good, but obsessing over grades and success can be so dangerous for your health. Being healthy and exercising is good, but the pressure to look perfect can consume you. Relationships are good and we were created for them, but clinging to such temporary things will only leave you empty in the end.
All of these things that bring us temporary satisfaction are destroying us because we as a society have lost sight of the truth.
You’re so loved! Jesus wants to save you! Surrender to it! I’m not yelling this at you if you read it that way. It’s more of an excited sort of, “Why the heck is it taking you so long to get this? It’s the best news you’ll ever hear!” So maybe I am kind of yelling, but it’s yelling in love. Promise.
God wants to bring you joy in every circumstance. God created you in a wonderful way and says you are beautiful. God wants you to find intimacy in Him, in the only relationship that matters throughout eternity. God wants you to know He loves you despite all your imperfections.
I just wanted to say that.
I love you. God loves you. Now love yourself. Live like you are loved. Because Jesus says you are worth it.
