Finally a turmeric latte I can handle!
Full disclosure, this is basically drinkable dessert because I low key hate turmeric and adding too much sweetener is the only way I can stand it. BUT I’d like to think I’m still benefitting from the good spices, right?
Before this gluten free, sugar intolerance thing, I used to make these amazing fall spice snickerdoodles and this drink reminds me of that.
It’s a drinkable cookie. Okay. It’s a drinkable cookie.
I think the amount of sweetener you add is going to be up to your personal sweet tooth/ tolerance for turmeric, but I think the other spices levels are perfect, maybe? You can decide.
This is for all of you skeptics toward the golden latte craze that’s going on right now.
cookie spice turmeric latte
(This is for four 8 oz servings.** I’m guessing it’s perfectly fine to mix this in bulk and store for a good while… if it will last that long.)
- 2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- sprinkle black pepper
latte (milk, guys, it’s milk):
- 1 cup oat milk is what I used and it’s highly recommended
- sweetener of choice, to taste* (I used brown sugar so it’s NOT HEALTHY LOL, but maple syrup or coconut sugar are also really good for the flavor I’m going for here)
- lil dash of butter or coconut oil
Heat up your milk, mix in the spices, add fatty oil of choice, then sweeten as much as necessary. If you’re like me, you can use too much, okay, it’s fine.
**Serving notes. I added 3 tsp brown sugar to the spice mix. The ratio I used was 2 tsp of the spice+sweetener mixture per 8 oz liquid. Honestly just mixing all these spices together with something sweet in any ratio you like seems like a good idea.
