This is the way things are meant to be: cluttered, wild, free. Messy. There’s an odd smell I can’t place. Maybe that weird blooming thing that everyone in this state knows, but i can’t remember the name.
There’s a roaring mower two houses down and a quieter roar to my left. Carpenter bees getting all they can out of the purple wildflowers. My grass is a little too tall, but that’s fine. The birch and redbud leaves are showing. This other tree is fully green, though it took until May last year. Dandelions everywhere. WHAT is that smell? A bird is tweeting in the most annoying way. But i bought a bird ID book last year.
